The seventh Yangtze River Delta International Innovation Challenge — with its focus on intelligent robotics — was held on Nov 20 in Shanghai's Putuo district.

It attracted nearly 100 representatives from research institutions, universities, influential business enterprises and investment firms within the intelligent robotics sector of the Yangtze River Delta region.

The event was organized by the district's science and technology authority and its human resources department.

During the competition, several authoritative industry experts delivered keynote speeches and in-depth presentations on the latest trends in robotics technology, industrial applications and ecosystem construction.

These insights were said to provide invaluable perspectives on the current state and future direction of the intelligent robotics industry.

Since the competition's launch, Putuo district has conducted a comprehensive survey of the sector in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The effort has identified 86 innovation demands from enterprises and compiled a map featuring over 440 upstream and downstream industry supply chain enterprises in the area.

The map visually presents the distribution, concentration and technological layout of intelligent robotics companies. It's an aid to get a precise understanding of the industry landscape and to facilitate the targeted promotions of synergies between industry supply chain firms.

The competition has already resulted in six cooperation agreements, aided by the digital capabilities of the InnoMatch global supply-demand matching platform.

The agreements represent an estimated investment of over 20 million yuan ($2.75 million) from the related enterprises.

During the event, three innovative cooperation projects were signed, involving robotics companies from Putuo district and universities from the Yangtze River Delta region.

The collaborations are expected to further promote cross-regional cooperation and precise resource alignments in industrial innovation.

In addition, 10 robotics industry experts from the Shanghai Robotics Society, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University and Tongji University were appointed to the Yangtze River Delta Robotics Industry Think Tank.

The think tank will gather top expertise in the robotics field, creating a high-level, high-quality exchange platform for the sector in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Moving forwards, plans are for the Putuo district to deeply integrate regional high-quality innovation resources, optimize industrial layouts and to explore more innovative application scenarios for intelligent robotics.
