Shanghai to host major intl tourism expo in March
Tourism Plus Shanghai, Asia's leading tourism industry trade show, will be held in Shanghai from March 30 to April 3, 2025.
The expo will involve three major exhibition halls across the city, spanning 700,000 square meters and featuring over 6,000 exhibitors. Organizers expect 450,000 visitors from more than 140 countries and regions.
This event aligns with Shanghai's goal to become a leading global tourist destination, showcasing the city's role as a hub for both domestic and international tourism.
Building on the growth of global tourism and positive trends in Chinese tourism, the expo will provide a platform for industry players to present innovations in various sectors, including new business models, immersive experiences, cutting-edge technologies, and fresh travel approaches.
The event will feature four major exhibitions. Hotelex Shanghai, Asia's largest hospitality exhibition, will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from March 30 to April 2, focusing on culinary trends and featuring high-end ingredients, coffee, tea, light meals, and franchising opportunities.
Simultaneously, the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center will host Tourism Plus Shanghai, the China (Shanghai) International Boat Show and the Lifestyle Show Shanghai, emphasizing travel experiences and entertainment.
The Hotel & Shop Plus exhibition will run from March 31 to April 3 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, showcasing the latest trends in accommodation, retail, and workspaces.
With 48 segments across 14 major industries, the four exhibitions will provide a comprehensive overview of the tourism and hospitality sectors.
In addition to the exhibitions, over 300 events, including special exhibitions, lifestyle festivals, investment matchmaking conferences, professional competitions, and forums, will be held.
In 2024, Shanghai welcomed over 6 million inbound tourists, further cementing its status as China's premier gateway for international visitors. Visa-free policies and extensive promotional efforts are expected to attract even more international participation in the expo.
Exhibitors from countries such as Germany, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Nigeria have already registered, with attendees from a wider range of countries showing interest.
By facilitating international business matching, the expo aims to support both domestic and international enterprises seeking expansion opportunities, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships within the global tourism landscape.
