Shanghai will host the 30th Shanghai TV Festival from June 23 to 27, continuing to serve as a platform for global television industry exchanges and fostering dialogue between domestic and international producers.

According to Chen Guo, managing director of the Shanghai International Film and TV Center, in addition to the prestigious Magnolia Awards, the five-day festival will feature a diverse lineup of events, including an opening ceremony, a TV forum and screenings of nominated TV programs.

Chen said that preparations for the festival are well underway. Submissions for two of the five Magnolia Awards categories — domestically produced TV dramas and variety shows — remain open until March 31.

Booth reservations for the International Film and TV Market are open until May 31. The market is an integral part of the festival and will run from June 21 to 25.

This year's market will incorporate elements such as content creation, filming equipment, artificial intelligence technology, and culture and tourism-related offerings.

It will spotlight recent industry trends by showcasing the entire chain of production.

An open-air fair catering to the public will also be featured at the market for the first time.

It will promote the integration of culture, tourism, commerce, sports and exhibitions, offering an immersive viewing experience while driving the growth of the industries it brings together.

Established in 1986, the festival is the first international event of its kind in China. It adheres to the principles of professionalism, internationalization and public welfare and has grown into one of the most important platforms for TV-related cultural exchange in Asia.

As the first international awards in China dedicated to TV programs, the Magnolia Awards aim to shape the industry by recognizing outstanding TV programs that set benchmarks for excellence.

The evaluation process will abide by fair rules, follow standardized procedures and take into consideration both the artistic value and market influence of each production.
