The Shanghai Natural History Museum, a branch of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, will host a large-scale dinosaur exhibition to mark the 10th anniversary of its opening, according to Ni Minjing, director of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.

The exhibition, starting from May 18, will showcase fossil specimens unearthed in Henan and Sichuan provinces, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and more.

The Shanghai Natural History Museum, located in Jing'an Sculpture Park, covers an area of 45,257 square meters, with over 70 percent of the space dedicated to exhibitions and educational services.

The museum offers 10 permanent exhibitions and is equipped with facilities such as temporary exhibition halls, a 4D cinema, and an interactive center.

It displays more than 11,000 specimens from all seven continents, including nearly 1,000 rare species.

The museum houses more than 290,000 historical and natural relics from around the world, which can be divided into five categories such as plants, animals and ancient species.

Over the past decade, it has welcomed over 19.42 million visitors and handled over 310,000 natural and historical relics.

It has also launched more than 5,000 science education programs both online and onsite, reaching over 30 million people.

Collaborating with 319 primary and secondary schools in Shanghai, the museum has become one of the public's favorite places to visit.

Ni said that the museum plans to double the number of relics displayed within the next five years, and will also place exhibits at schools, in communities and in department stores. In addition, it will expand digital access so that more people can learn about the wonders of nature.
