The four-day event served as a key platform for advancing global pharmaceutical innovation and regulatory collaboration. It aimed to draw investment from domestic and international pharmaceutical firms, further establishing Shanghai as a world-class hub for biomedical innovation.

This year's meeting brought together thousands of professionals from over 30 countries, including nearly 100 clinical trial institutions and more than 200 industry leaders. Highlights included the International Council for Harmonisation day, the opening ceremony, a global regulator dialogue, international expansion forums, and seminars covering 12 major pharmaceutical lifecycle topics.

In addition to regulatory agencies from major global markets, the meeting welcomed participants from North Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Discussions focused on new drug registration processes and international regulatory strategies to support the global expansion of China's pharmaceutical innovators.

Founded in 1964 and headquartered in Washington, DIA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to global health advancement through knowledge exchange. Its annual China meeting has grown into a leading platform for professional dialogue in pharmaceutical R&D.

In May 2024, DIA opened its Shanghai office with support from the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality. The new office strengthens international collaboration and exchange among pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and regulators — further promoting the global integration and innovation of Shanghai's biopharma industry.
