2025 GAF Shanghai Illustration Art Fair shines with global creativity
Shining a spotlight on creativity, the 2025 GAF Shanghai Illustration Art Fair, themed "Growing Light", brought together over 800 acclaimed illustrators from China and abroad at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from Aug 8 to 10.
Covering an area of 26,000 square meters, the fair featured more than 30 curated activities.
On the opening day, 87-year-old legendary Chinese artist Dai Dunbang attended in person to present his special exhibition Stepping on the Clouds, Seeking the Path: Watercolor Journey to the West, which included eight original hand-drawn works unveiled for the first time.
Globally renowned Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano presented the exclusive China premiere of his Golden View of the World series, a shimmering showcase of fantasy art.
Japanese illustrator and manga artist Range Murata participated in a major Chinese exhibition for the first time, while Pokemon illustrator Naoki Saito, in collaboration with TourBox, made his Chinese mainland debut.
Kimiya Masago presented his Heroes of Water Margin series, and Korean artist Noma showcased distinctive opaque watercolors.
The event also welcomed more than 100 overseas artists from more than 10 countries, including South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia, offering visitors a vibrant spectrum of global creativity.
