Riverdance anniversary showcase thrills crowd
Ireland's iconic tap dance show Riverdance celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special creative cast presentation in China last weekend.
The show ran for two consecutive days at Shanghai's Grand Gateway 66, standing out as a highlight of the mall's anniversary celebrations.
As a legendary production and global box office champion for 25 consecutive years, Riverdance has previously appeared at China's Spring Festival Gala.
It is the only dance show to have won a Grammy Award and maintained a long-running presence on Broadway, setting a benchmark for tap dance artistry.
During the Shanghai event, the creative cast performed three excerpts from the show, captivating the audience with their fast, precise, and rhythmic footwork, complemented by rich musicality and stage expression.
Under the theme Gateway to Inspiration, Grand Gateway 66's anniversary celebrations also showcased local young talents.
Among them, pioneering troupe PUPA presented the Shanghai debut of Furry Planet, a visually striking production that blends multiple art forms.
Using bold stilt-walking, combined with costumes, installations, and live elements, the troupe created an immersive and imaginative spectacle.
Alongside immersive art and cultural interactions, the mall offered limited-time promotions and engaging activities, creating a diverse experience for visitors.
Mall officials reported strong year-on-year growth in both foot traffic and sales during this year's anniversary period, with tenant sales rising by nearly 40 percent.
