The tournament was designed to be an annual signature event at the Spring Festival in Shanghai with the participation of six international star players, eight influencer players, and 512 amateur players.

"I am happy to be back in Shanghai after eight years. I saw a beautiful crowd and a beautiful stadium, and I am so happy to be here celebrating the New Year," del Potro said.

"I knew I have a big fans' club in China. Hopefully I can come back for the Shanghai Masters 1000."

Organizers aim to integrate culture and tourism with the tournament as the ticket holders could enjoy discounts in shopping, entertainment, and accommodation in the city.
