Hundreds of internet content creators and industry leaders from around the world gathered in Shanghai on May 30 for the 2026 Top Creators Gala, where they explored innovative ways to tell Chinese and Shanghai stories through digital platforms.

The event opened with a collaborative short film by global creators showcasing Shanghai's open and innovative character.

Popular content creators shared their experiences and presented five key elements of quality digital content under the acronym "SHARE": sincerity, height, aesthetics, resonance, and evergreen.

A cultural performance titled Jade Plate combined Yi ethnic group's songs, vocal techniques, and craftsmanship, showing how traditional arts can find new life through internet platforms.

In July 2025, Shanghai launched a set of measures to support the creation of high-quality internet content. At the gala, two new initiatives were unveiled to strengthen the creative ecosystem — the Shanghai quality internet content empowerment plan and the 2026 co-creation plan, involving major platforms such as Bilibili, Rednote, and Tencent.

International creators praised Shanghai's creative atmosphere. Sergey Sinkins, a Latvian sports dance judge and blogger, said, "Shanghai is a great place to create any ideas. The vibe here is so energetic — you always feel in a very good mood, like jazz music."

Greg, a French blogger living in Shanghai, said, "Being a content creator in Shanghai is a very busy endeavor. Every single day, new ideas keep popping up."
