Beneath the Golden Crown: Highlights of Silla's Treasures
The exhibition is dedicated to Silla (traditionally dated 57 BC–AD 935), an ancient kingdom on the Korean Peninsula. It is the first thematic exhibition in China devoted to Silla and presents 260 carefully selected artifacts alongside works from the Shanghai Museum's collection. Three sections explore gold culture, international exchanges, and Buddhist art. Highlights include the gold crown, gold belt, gold cap, and bird-wing-shaped gold crown ornaments from the Gold Crown Tomb; the crown, unearthed in 1921, is the earliest discovered among the six known Silla gold crowns.
