Medical workers at the Jiangning Road Subdistrict Community Health Service Center in Shanghai's Jing'an district recently received a letter of commendation from a senior couple from the United States, saying "Every time we come to the Rehabilitation Department, we feel at home!"

Jennet Qian Succari and her husband Owais R Succari traveled to Shanghai in November last year. Owais, who has been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, required ongoing rehabilitation therapy, which had to continue during their stay in the city.

They went to the rehabilitation department of the community health service center, where Doctor Yu Haiyan received them. "Doctor Yu is highly proficient in her professional work," the couple wrote in the letter. "She tried every means to create an atmosphere that he was familiar with and enjoyed through music, poetry, dance, games, and different languages."

They praised the medical staff member for "treating them with kindness and patience," saying, "This kind of feeling makes us naturally want more people to know about and experience it."

Yu said that after three to four months of treatment, Owais can now perform light aerobic exercises, with improved finger dexterity and greater independence in daily life.

Jennet shared that her husband affectionately calls the rehab center his "club". On weekends, he often asks, "Should I be getting ready to go to the club this afternoon?"

She added that they hadn't expected such high-quality rehabilitation services and facilities in a Shanghai community and that it had been a great experience.
