The buildings of St. John's University — a prominent educational institution founded in the late 19th century in Shanghai — are now part of the Changning campus of the East China University of Political Science and Law.

Situated along the scenic Suzhou Creek, the campus preserves both architectural and educational legacies. It is undergoing a delicate restoration process that began in 2017, following the principle of "preserving the old as old". This effort highlights the historical beauty of the riverside area while blending the city's rich heritage, campus culture, and waterfront space.

The Social Building is among Shanghai's notable historic buildings. In May 1949, during the Shanghai Campaign — a critical military offensive that led to the city's liberation in the Chinese civil war — the hall was used as the headquarters of the People's Liberation Army. Today, it serves as a conference center.

Buildings 26 and 27, once home to the China National Amateur Athletic Federation, have been fully restored. These historically significant structures mark the birthplace of China's Olympic journey a century ago.

The Gezhi Building, which lost its iconic rooftop and eaves in past renovations, has been carefully restored using historical references. Future projects will continue to restore the remaining buildings, preserving the architectural heritage of St. John's University.

These buildings are not only valuable cultural relics but also tell Shanghai's evolving history, offering visitors a chance to experience the city's unique cultural charm firsthand.
