The 2025 Eighth Poppy Flower Culture and Tourism Festival will open on April 26 at the Shanghai Blooming Garden (Huakai Haishang Ecological Park) in Jinshan district. From late April to mid-May, the park will be a vibrant tapestry of blooming flowers, complemented by a variety of leisure activities you won't want to miss. Escape the hustle of daily life and immerse yourself in a sea of flowers this season!

Part 1 Flower viewing guide

1. From now to mid-May

Experience a vibrant display of poppies, pink dandelions, lupines, snow-in-summer, blue thistles, baby's breath, cornflowers, giant allium, snapdragons, Chinese forget-me-nots (Cynoglossum amabile), and more. These blooms are best enjoyed in the Fragrant Garden and Flower Sea areas.

2. Late May

Delight in the beauty of water lilies, irises, daylilies, and more, scattered across various picturesque locations throughout the park.

Part 2 Enriching activities

1. Eighth anniversary special offer

On April 26, enjoy half-price tickets at 15 yuan ($2.05) per person. Annual passes are also half-price at 50 yuan for the year. Visitors with a birthday on April 26 can enter for free with valid identification.

2. Music festival

On May 1, enjoy live performances by local musicians and university bands, featuring pop, rock, and folk music. The festival will also host the Zhujing Melon Festival, offering agricultural products, cultural and creative items, specialty foods, handicrafts, coffee, and light snacks.

3. Book fair

From April 26 to May 5, explore 1,200 to 1,500 types of books available for sale and free reading. Complete mini-games on-site to receive additional books for free.

4. Barbecue

The Qiujingyuan barbecue area in the park recently opened and is now accepting reservations. Have some wild fun under the trees and enjoy a feast with nature. For reservations, call 130-2322-1760.

5. Flower photography contest with prizes

From April 26 to May 18, find three different types of flowers in the park, submit your photos, and participate in a voting contest to win prizes such as homestay vouchers, aromatherapy oils, and annual passes.

In addition to the activities mentioned above, the park offers a wide range of exciting options, such as horse riding, cycling, boating, pet walking, rainbow slides, swings, and more. Come and explore!
