Shanghai Beethoven international music festival: A celebration of borderless music
The 2nd Shanghai Nine Trees Beethoven International Music Festival opens on the evening of July 15, bringing together a distinguished lineup including conductor Tang Muhai, pianist Yin Cunmo — winner of the 2019 International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn, Stanford piano professor Frank Levy, violinist Zhu Dan, and rising youth talents.
The festival will feature five concerts at the Lyceum Theatre in Huangpu district and the Nine Trees Future Art Center in Fengxian district, continuing its theme of music without borders by fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding through key highlights:
- Celebrating German and Austrian classics with works by Mozart and Beethoven.
- Honoring musical heritage with a special concert marking 50 years since Dmitri Shostakovich's passing.
- Bridging East and West through Fryderyk Chopin's piano works, contemporary Chinese folk music, and Beethoven's symphonies.
