Legoland Shanghai Resort will host its first-ever Spring Festival event, themed "A Big New Year Deserves a Big Joy", running from Jan 28 to March 3. The celebration creatively merges traditional festival customs with the imaginative play of Lego bricks, offering families a vibrant and interactive holiday experience.

Throughout the event, the resort will be adorned with festive decorations and feature themed performances, special Year of the Horse activities, and collaborative Lego building sessions, transforming seasonal traditions into memorable moments of shared play, adventure, and creativity.

Spring Festival-themed activities

The park will be decorated with traditional elements such as lanterns and paper-cuttings. Two special mascots, "Jixiang" and "Ruyi" — meaning "good fortune" and "wishes come true" — will make surprise appearances to greet visitors.

A standout attraction is a 175-centimeter-tall Lego sculpture of the Chinese God of Wealth, constructed from over 100,000 bricks.

At Lego Square, a nearly four-meter-tall giant firecracker model will serve as a centerpiece, with families invited to join a community-building activity to assemble a festive Lego firecracker display.

Interactive experiences and cultural performances

The fifth day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar, which falls on Feb 21, is traditionally dedicated to honoring the God of Wealth. A lively "welcoming the God of Wealth" event will take place on this day, where visitors may receive lucky red envelopes.

The celebration will feature a variety of performances that will bring traditional stories to life, including an interactive musical inspired by Chinese mythology. On Chinese New Year's Day (Feb 17), the century-old Ha Kwok Cheung Dragon & Lion Team will perform their signature dragon and lion dances.

A festive market will offer traditional activities such as writing the character "福" (fú, fortune) and playing ancient Chinese soccer, providing families with engaging ways to create shared memories.

Year of the Horse themed exploration

A translucent Lego horse, designed to resemble an ice sculpture, will serve as the zodiac guardian, welcoming guests to share their New Year wishes.

A special horse-themed puzzle hunt will guide teams through the resort's seven themed areas. By following clues and collecting pieces, participants can exchange a completed puzzle for a surprise red envelope reward.

Food and shopping

Limited-edition Spring Festival merchandise will be available, including toys dressed in Year of the Horse attire, festive lucky bags, miniature spring couplet sets, and more. A newly launched stamp collection booklet will help visitors preserve their holiday memories.

Resort restaurants will offer exclusive New Year dishes, infusing festive flavors into every meal.
