During the 2026 Yuyuan Lantern Festival, heavy pedestrian traffic is expected in key areas such as Anren Street and Guangqi Road. To ensure safe and orderly movement, traffic police will implement temporary control measures based on real-time crowd conditions.

Temporary control guidelines

When pedestrian density in the Anren Street area reaches capacity, temporary traffic restrictions will be implemented around the marked red routes (South Sichuan Road, Renmin Road, Anren Street, Guangqi Road, and Middle Fangbang Road). During these periods, non-motorized vehicles will not be permitted to enter the controlled areas. Visitors and residents are advised to plan their routes and follow instructions from on-site traffic officers.

Recommended detours for non-motorized vehicles

Two alternative routes will be available:

Green route: Renmin Road → South Henan Road (for fast through traffic)

Orange route: Renmin Road → eastbound connection to adjacent streets

Clear directional signs will be installed along both detours. Please follow the posted guidance and check your route ahead of time to avoid entering controlled zones.

Travel tips

Given the large crowds expected around Yuyuan Garden during the festival, the use of public transportation is strongly recommended. Visitors choosing to cycle should plan their routes carefully, avoid peak hours, and comply with instructions from police and on-site staff. If temporary traffic controls are in effect, please wait patiently or follow designated detours, and do not enter restricted zones.
