Celebrate the Year of the Horse in Shanghai in spectacular style. Beyond the festive lights and decorations, the city will stage dazzling fireworks and multimedia shows at key locations. From theme parks to lakeside spectacles, here is your guide to the brilliant displays set to illuminate Shanghai’s skyline during the Spring Festival holiday.

1. Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park

When: Feb 15-23

Where: Inside Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park. The Nanji Bridge offers the best vantage point.

Highlights: The display combines spectacular fireworks with a synchronized aerial performance by 1,000 drones and the release of traditional Kongming lanterns, creating a magical scene in the night sky.

2. Shanghai Disney Resort

When: Feb 16 to March 3

Where: Enchanted Storybook Castle, Shanghai Disney Resort

Highlights: As part of the resort's Chinese New Year celebrations, a special limited-edition fireworks show will illuminate the castle. The night sky will light up with a dazzling firework display shaped like the Chinese character for horse, enhanced by synchronized lighting effects and music to create a truly magical experience.

Where: Inside Shanghai Happy Valley. The best view is at the central lake area by the water screen.

Highlights: A grand New Year fireworks show lasting about 10 minutes, perfectly timed to a curated soundtrack and accompanied by a water screen performance. The event also includes a creative 3D drone show.

4. Dishui Lake

When: Every Saturday and public holiday evenings at 8 pm.

Where: Dishui Lake. For the best view, including city lights, head to the eastern or southern shore.

Highlights: A unique fireworks and light show that uses the lake as a natural backdrop, with the iconic Water Drop sculpture at its center. The fireworks, combined with the themed light projections over the water, present a captivating performance that celebrates Lingang's development and culture.
