Summer fun heats up in Jinshan

As summer gets into full swing, Jinshan has rolled out a wide range of seasonal events across its major attractions. From theme parks and coastal scenery to rural landscapes and intangible cultural heritage experiences, the district offers plenty of ways to enjoy a summer getaway.

1. Legoland Shanghai Resort

(1) Lego Festival

When: June 11 to Aug 31

The Lego Festival is making its China debut at Legoland Shanghai Resort, with a new 4,000-square-meter area divided into five themed zones. Featuring experiences inspired by the FIFA World Cup 2026 and Formula 1, the festival offers interactive games, creative building activities, and live performances, blending contemporary trends with Lego creativity.

(2) Legoland Shanghai's first anniversary celebration

When: Anniversary celebration on July 5; special night events on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from July 3 to Aug 30

The resort is marking its first anniversary with a two-month celebration. Birthday-themed decorations will be installed throughout the park, while interactive drone shows will light up the sky every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.

2. Jinshan City Beach

(1) @JAM Shanghai SHIP 2026

When: July 11-12

Billed as China's first outdoor, beach-themed summer festival for idol groups, the event will bring together top idol acts from across Asia. With live performances and immersive interactive experiences set against the backdrop of sea, sand, and sunset breezes, the event offers a full day of summer fun.

(2) Beachside music and beer festival

When: July 18-19 and July 25-26

Enjoy sea breezes, live music and drinks on a relaxing summer evening by the beach. A series of small-scale live performances will take the stage, creating a relaxed and delightful seaside celebration.

3. Peach feast at Lyuxiang Fruit Park

When: July 19 to Aug 19

Lyuxiang Fruit Park is set to host an annual Jinshan peach feast. This year's highlight is an immersive AI show that brings a futuristic touch to the experience. Weekend performances are paired with live music and a folk culture market, making it a top destination for rural tourism.

4. Summer fruit and vegetable season at Langxia Country Park

When: May 29 to Aug 31

As peaches, grapes, and Jinshan's signature Xiaohuangguan watermelons come into season, Langxia Country Park is entering its peak fruit and vegetable season. The park is hosting a series of activities including watermelon-eating contests, fruit and vegetable picking, fishing, shrimp catching, and stargazing while camping.

5. Heritage events at Jinshanzui Fishing Village

(1) Traditional wellness workshops

When: July 4-5 and July 11-12

Visitors can create herbal sachets and wellness mallets at the intangible cultural heritage market while learning about traditional Chinese herbal wellness practices and craftsmanship.

(2) Fishing village heritage experiences

When: Every weekend in August

As part of the Jinshan Sea and Fishing Culture Festival, activities will include weaving fishing nets, assembling boat models, and sampling fresh seafood, giving visitors a taste of Jinshan's traditional fishing culture and customs.

6. Binhai New Area West Green Space

When: From July 1

Opening hours:

  • May 1 – Oct 31, 9 am – 9 pm
  • Nov 1 – April 30, 9 am – 5 pm

Covering 560,000 sq m, this green space is open to the public for the first time. It features 335 parking spaces, jogging trails, children's play areas, and a football field. Visitors can camp, jog, or cycle, and pets are welcome throughout the site.

7. Summer night series at Jinshan Library

When: Evenings in July and August

The library is hosting a series of nighttime events, including a Jinshan-themed poetry concert, interactive performances, and talent showcases.

8. Summer study tours at Jinshan Museum

When: July and August

Jinshan Museum, which also serves as the Jinshan Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, is offering summer camps for children. Through hands-on activities, tastings, and interactive experiences, young participants can explore local heritage and connect with Jinshan's cultural roots.
