City attractions launch summer experiences

Shanghai's popular attractions have introduced a variety of summer experiences, including seasonal activities such as water fun and evening shows.

Shanghai Disney Resort

The resort marks its 10th anniversary until August 31 with a special summer carnival available for a limited time. Additionally, on Fridays and Saturdays through August 1, the park will stay open until 10:30 pm, offering visitors an extended evening experience.

Tomorrowland transforms into a high-energy dance floor for the Summer Beats Celebration, with characters such as Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope interacting with guests amid cooling mist.

A golden Tron Lightcycle offers a fresh visual experience. The Duffy and Friends characters appear in new beach-themed outfits, and the castle hosts a special 10th-anniversary projection show.

The park also introduces new fruit-flavored drinks, exclusive merchandise, and extended operating hours for popular rides, and offers opportunities for close-up photos with characters, including Woody and Stitch.

Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park

The Orca Wave Festival at Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park offers 66 consecutive days of nighttime access until 9 pm for continuous water-themed festivities.

The event features four water parties, performances from popular artists, spectacular nighttime shows, and 10 upgraded main attractions.

It also offers summer benefits for families, combining indoor marine exhibition halls with outdoor wave-making water play.

Shanghai Happy Valley & Playa Maya Water Park

Shanghai Happy Valley EV Music Park and Playa Maya Water Park have jointly launched a summer carnival, offering "daytime water fun and nighttime music parties".

Playa Maya Water Park has upgraded its 24-hour circulating water purification system, added coconut tree walkways for increased comfort, and installed new lockers. The park offers numerous water slides suitable for families and children.

Happy Valley's main square hosts scheduled water splashing parties with giant water cannon arrays and water gun refill stations.

Shanghai Wild Animal Park

The Shanghai Wild Animal Park has upgraded its Night Safari, which now stays open until 9 pm. Evening guests can take a boat ride through the forest and lake areas to observe golden monkeys, hippos, and black-capped capuchins.

The Tiger Restaurant provides a dining experience with views of strolling Siberian tigers through floor-to-ceiling windows.

The park illuminates with light installations, including a firefly galaxy, animal night walks, and a giant animal mask gate.

A captivating, immersive light show on Swan Lake depicts animals, forests, and starry skies. The park also offers interactive, themed installations.

When: 9 am to 9 pm (last entry 7:30 pm) during July-August, weekends and holidays in September, and the National Day holiday

Shanghai Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower

The Taikon Pearl Starship Experience Space, located 98 to 107 meters high within the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower, offers a space-themed experience.

Visitors act as "interstellar travelers" during a simulated space mission, experiencing a virtual launch, interstellar travel, Mars exploration, and a deep-space return.

The experience combines storytelling, immersive scenes, and interactive elements, integrating real aerospace knowledge with futuristic concepts.

Guests can eventually experience riding two-person space capsules through a fantastical dark environment, which includes a dark ride, interactive shooting, and new media installations across various themed scenarios.

Shanghai Film Park

Shanghai Film Park presents the Primitive Tribe Summer Water-Splashing Carnival. The event features water-themed electronic music, bonfire parties, and immersive theatrical performances.

It is set amid vintage shikumen architecture, a Huanghe Road film set, and tram landscapes. Visitors can enjoy water activities and interact with costumed characters patrolling the streets.
