Wujing town launches international scientists community
An international scientists community was inaugurated in Wujing town, Minhang district on Oct 25, marking the town's first community.
The new community, located in the Grand Neobay – a sprawling innovation-driven function area – spans nearly 80,000 square meters, with a construction area of 265,000 square meters, designed to accommodate immediate move-in needs.
Wujing Town has also established a talent work alliance in collaboration with local universities and institutions – providing 40 specialized services for scientific teams and high-level talent.
Additionally, the town has signed a cooperation agreement with Science Pictorial, China's first comprehensive popular science magazine, which will publish a special edition focusing on Wujing's tech innovations by the end of the year.
The overall Grand Neobay area encompasses a 17-square-kilometer area that encircles Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the East China Normal University Minhang campuses.
Focusing on three leading industries – biomedicines, artificial intelligence, and high-end equipment – the area is also developing new sectors such as the digital economy, green and low-carbon technologies, and the metaverse.
By the end of 2023, over 600 high-tech enterprises had established a presence in the area, including 55 companies valued at over 100 million ($14 million) yuan and nine listed companies.
What's more, over 30 listed companies and leading firms have set up innovation centers and R&D platforms in the area.
