Global Taste in Shanghai launched its Americas Flavors season on April 2 at Inpoint on Wujiang Road in Jing'an district. The launch event highlighted dining guides, a new restaurant map, special set menus, signature dishes and themed experiences across the city.

New dining guides spotlight the Americas

Following the European Flavors season earlier this year, Global Taste in Shanghai has released a new Americas edition of its dining guide in partnership with Meituan. The guide will roll out themed food routes each month, covering Brazil, Mexico, and broader Americas flavors.

April is designated as "Brazil Month", featuring five curated Brazilian dining routes. Participating restaurants will also offer special set menus. The guide is accessible by searching "Global Taste in Shanghai (环球美食汇)" on Meituan or Dianping, where users can share their experiences for a chance to win gifts.

A new restaurant map debuts

Shanghai's first map of newly opened international restaurants debuted, showcasing the city's global dining landscape beyond the Americas-themed season.

Featured venues include Aleia, a Michelin-starred restaurant from Barcelona, and Le Cafe Louis Vuitton, which blends luxury retail with dining. Other additions include Turkish chain MADO, solo dining concept Pickchill, Serenade Brunch & Bistro, and Thai restaurant Kukuwa.

Set menus showcase regional diversity

A new Americas-themed set menu guide has also been introduced, bringing together nearly 80 dishes from 50 restaurants across Shanghai. The offerings range from North American classics to South American specialties, with options for afternoon tea, dates, family gatherings, and business meetings.

During the event period, visitors can access promotions through Dianping or directly at participating restaurants. The menus highlight the diversity of the Americas through a rich spectrum of flavors, from Mexican spices to Brazilian barbecue and American-style burgers.

Chefs present signature dishes

Five restaurants presented signature dishes at the launch event, offering a closer look at distinct culinary traditions.

Latina Brazilian Steakhouse presented a mixed barbecue platter featuring a variety of slow-grilled meats. Cages introduced a classic American-style combo of burgers, fries, and popcorn chicken. Chihuahua shared three well-known Mexican dishes: tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. Goose Island Brewhouse offered a set featuring steak, seafood pasta, and craft beer. Reply Bar presented a tequila-based cocktail infused with spices and lime.

'Food plus' experiences add to the season

The season also includes a range of "food plus" experiences that combine dining with travel, retail, and entertainment.

Jin Jiang International Hotels announced that 19 of its properties will offer Americas-themed menus, alongside curated city routes available through the Jin Jiang Rewards app until June 30. The routes include combinations such as an aquarium visit paired with Brazilian barbecue and a greenhouse tour followed by a Mexican meal.

China UnionPay launched promotional offers for both domestic and international visitors, including discounts available through the UnionPay app and the Nihao China app. A dining map feature has also been added to help users find nearby restaurants.

The season will also be linked with major industry exhibitions, including Hotelex Shanghai and Food & Hospitality China. These exhibitions will bring together more than 6,000 companies and over 50 international delegations, spanning catering equipment, premium ingredients, coffee and tea, bakery and dairy products, and tableware. China Eastern Airlines has incorporated Global Taste in Shanghai benefits into its Shanghai Pass card, allowing inbound travelers to access dining offers across the city.

Citywide activities roll out

During the Americas Flavors season, districts across Shanghai will host themed activities centered on food and lifestyle. Monthly highlights will include a Brazilian barbecue night market, a Mexican festival, and a Caribbean-themed activity.

Major commercial areas and dining streets will also join the campaign. Planned activities include an Americas food festival at Expo Culture Park and a meat-themed festival at New Bund Red Lane, both in Pudong New Area, as well as a burger festival at Bund Finance Center in Huangpu district. Jing'an district, the main venue for this season, will host a flavors of the Americas carnival market from April 24 to 26 at the Wujiang Road–Fengsheng Li area.
