Shanghai Eastern Hub IBCZ strengthens Middle East investment links
A Shanghai-Middle East investment services event was held at the Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone on June 9, launching new platforms and services aimed at facilitating two-way investment.
The event focused on attracting Middle Eastern capital, companies, and projects to Shanghai, while creating additional channels for investment cooperation between Shanghai and the Middle East.
New channels for investment matching
Shelin Hakki, head of Middle East investor relations at Encor Group, said the corporate services firm will leverage its international network to introduce capital, leading companies, and cooperation projects from the Middle East and other regions to the IBCZ.
During the event, regional developers and other participants proposed the establishment of a Middle East-Shanghai Investment Service Alliance. The IBCZ will serve as a regular venue for the alliance's activities, supporting business matching, channel development, and information sharing between companies from both sides.
A country and regional project roadshow center was also launched in the zone. It will host regular roadshows for investment projects from different countries and regions, with Middle East-related projects among the first to be featured.
The Abu Dhabi Investment Office also held targeted discussions with prospective investors and companies to explore cooperation opportunities and project implementation.
Several companies and institutions unveiled cooperation proposals in high-growth sectors, including new energy, smart cities, the low-altitude economy, biomedicine, and urban development.
A hub for cross-border business
Located near Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai East Railway Station, the IBCZ is designed to facilitate meetings, exhibitions, roadshows, and business negotiations for international visitors traveling through the airport and railway hub.
The event followed several major activities held in the IBCZ, including the Appliance & Electronics World Expo 2026, the Shanghai Global Investment Promotion Conference 2026, and the first Overseas Investment Fair.
