Do I need to declare my ADHD medication to customs during an airside transit at Shanghai Pudong Airport?

Q: I am traveling from Sweden to Japan, with a connection at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

I intend to remain in the international transit/airside area at Shanghai and will not leave the airport during the transit.

I take a prescribed medication called Elvanse (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate) for ADHD. I will carry 30 capsules for personal medical use, along with the original pharmacy packaging, my prescription, and other relevant medical documentation.

Could you please clarify whether I am permitted to carry this medication with me during my airside transit at Shanghai Pudong Airport?

Do I need to obtain any permission from or make any declaration to Chinese customs, or provide any additional documentation, before traveling?

A: Please note that because you will remain in the international transit area during your transit in Shanghai and will not pass through immigration inspection, you will remain within the customs supervision area.

Therefore, you may be exempt from completing a baggage declaration form during this airside transit.
