Shanghai hosts cross-strait youth entrepreneurship finals
The finals of the 2024 Shanghai Cross-Strait Youth Entrepreneurship Competition wrapped up on Aug 16 in Shanghai.
Since the tournament began in May, there have been nearly three and a half months of intense competition, with 20 youth innovation teams ultimately advancing to the finals.
Among them, the Precision Microbiota Transplant Treatment Platform, or PMTT project stood out and won the championship.
Zhang Chenbin, the project leader, explained that the project relied on the PMTT platform's precision microbiota transplant technology – which involves transplanting capsules into the patient's body to effectively treat related diseases within and outside the intestines.
The project team signed a tripartite agreement on-site with representatives from the Shanghai Bay Area High-tech Industrial Development Zone and entrepreneurial mentors. This secured it a location in the Shanghai Bay Area High-tech Industrial Development Zone, where the project will be empowered for accelerated growth.
This year's competition attracted a record-breaking 698 projects from youth entrepreneurship teams from across the Taiwan Strait and overseas.
Among the 20 finalist project teams, there were 44 PhD holders, 114 master's degree holders, two national key talent and two national high-level talents.
The Shanghai Cross-Strait Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has now been held nine times now, attracting a total of 4,779 projects and over 10,000 young participants from home and abroad.
This year's contest focused on the transformation of various technical achievements from universities, inviting entrepreneurs and investors to interact with university startup CEOs and providing personalized guidance to the projects.
