The Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, headquartered in Toronto, Canada, inaugurated its China center in Shanghai on Sept 21.

The center will focus on mathematical research, climate change and sustainable development, aiming to attract top global scientists, technology programs and innovations to Shanghai. This initiative draws on its experience in fostering global collaboration across academic, industrial and governmental sectors.

The China center will continue its focus on international collaboration in fundamental and applied research. It aims to attract top talent from overseas and enhance technological incubations and transfers both within China and abroad. The goal is to develop the center into an international hub for introducing climate change and sustainable development technologies from overseas to Shanghai.

The Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, established in 1992, is an international center for mathematical research activity based at the University of Toronto. It's an independent non-profit body, which supports collaboration between professional mathematicians and researchers in diverse fields.
