Global fair fosters employment, entrepreneurship, enterprise
The Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Enterprise Intl Fair 2024 was held on Oct 26 in Shanghai's Changning district, seeking to provide a platform for job seekers and entrepreneurs.
This year's fair aimed to explore new development pathways for technology and a green future, as 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the Environment, Social, Governance or ESG initiative proposed by the United Nations Global Compact.
Job recruitment fairs, keynote speeches, and roundtable discussions were included in the activities.
As a flagship project of Changning district, the event also featured an annual international think tank competition in innovation and entrepreneurship.
This year's contest kicked off on July 5 and concluded with the finals on Oct 26, involving 17 groups of social entrepreneurs from 13 countries.
After three months of hard-fought competition, seven startup teams from Germany, Colombia, Russia, Ireland, and other countries and regions made it to the finals.
The winners will receive a cumulative startup fund of 100,000 yuan ($14,026) if they register their businesses in Changning district.
The fair has been hosted five times since 2020 – attracting over 80 teams from more than 40 countries and regions.
Each year, the award-winning teams have successfully registered their companies and commenced operations with the support of Hongqiao subdistrict.
Nearly 300 multinational corporations and local businesses in Shanghai have created around 1,200 job positions through both online and offline channels – providing over 5,000 individuals with opportunities to apply for jobs.
