Shanghai unveils initiatives to bolster artificial intelligence
Shanghai has introduced a series of initiatives to unlock fresh opportunities for artificial intelligence innovation and provide a robust platform for the rapid growth of AI-driven industries.
Launched at the Shanghai Conference on Artificial Intelligence + Promotion on Jan 3 in the city's Xuhui district, these measures are designed to support AI enterprises and promote global cooperation.
A key highlight of the event was the official opening of the Operation Base for the China-BRICS Artificial Intelligence Development and Cooperation Center in Xuhui district.
The center introduced three major initiatives to invite global participation: an AI-themed exhibition, a series of AI training programs for BRICS countries, and the development of a think tank network among BRICS countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – alongside open research topics for collaborative exploration.
As Shanghai's first AI development cluster, Xuhui district unveiled its comprehensive "Artificial Intelligence +" action plan.
The ambitious blueprint outlined 10 key initiatives, which include strengthening model capabilities, accelerating real-world applications of AI, upgrading incubation models, and fostering international collaboration.
The actions are designed to drive Xuhui's goal of becoming China's leading AI hub.
Additionally, Shanghai launched its first batch of AI application demonstration bases, aimed to drive the adoption of AI technologies across key industries, including finance, manufacturing, education, healthcare, culture, tourism, and urban governance.
In support of these efforts, Shanghai also unveiled five major public service platforms. They are focused on reducing the cost of implementing AI applications and offering convenient, high-quality, and inclusive services to various innovation-driven entities, focusing on areas include AI-powered computing resources, training programs for young scientists, and financial services to support AI projects.
