The 5th Shanghai Global Talents Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition is now accepting entries from top innovators and entrepreneurs worldwide, providing a platform for groundbreaking projects and gaining support. Registration began on March 9.

Project stages
- Seed stage: Projects from unregistered businesses
- Start-up stage: Projects from businesses registered between Jan 1, 2020, and the competition's registration opening date
- Growth stage: Projects from businesses registered between Jan 1, 2015, and Dec 31, 2019
Eligibility
- Applicants must hold at least a bachelor's degree, have relevant work experience, and be familiar with industry standards and international regulations. They must also be the main leader of their team.
- Submitted projects must have full intellectual property rights, with patents or other intellectual property obtained through purchase or mergers excluded from competition results.
- Participants should not have won a gold, silver, or bronze award at any previous Shanghai Global Talents Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition.

Awards
- Gold awards: Six
- Silver awards: 18
- Bronze awards: 36
- Finalist awards: 80 (for participants who reach the finals but do not win gold, silver, or bronze awards)
Support
1. Winning projects will be entitled to a minimum of five free roadshow opportunities and introductions to at least 10 venture capital institutions, along with priority access to investment services.
2. Award-winning individuals and projects are eligible to directly apply for talent credit loans of up to 10 million yuan ($1.39 million) and enterprise credit loans of up to 30 million yuan. Enterprises controlled by award-winning individuals, which are established to commercialize project outcomes, may apply for enterprise credit loans of up to 50 million yuan if recognized as high-tech enterprises. Additionally, businesses recognized as specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises may apply for enterprise credit loans of up to 100 million yuan.
3. Companies founded by contestants who advance to the semifinals or finals, and meet the operating rules and review criteria for small and medium-sized enterprises, are eligible to receive a guarantee amount of up to 20 million yuan. Companies meeting the requirements for large enterprises will receive a guarantee amount of up to 100 million yuan.
4. Award-winning individuals and their employees are eligible for low interest rate personal credit loans of up to 1 million yuan.
5. Award-winning individuals who have not yet registered a business in Shanghai are eligible for up to 300 square meters of free office space. Contestants who have not registered a business in Shanghai and advanced to the semifinals or beyond will be recommended to join co-working spaces, incubators, and other platforms, with priority access to rent subsidies or rent reductions.
6. Award-winning individuals and key team members, along with their family members, who do not own property in the city, can be given priority for housing in municipal or district-level talent apartments. The total number of award-winning individuals and key team members applying shall not exceed three.
7. Gold, silver, and bronze award winners will receive participation subsidies of 100,000, 50,000, and 30,000 yuan, respectively.
