East China Normal University invites young scholars to geospatial AI forum

The Geospatial Artificial Intelligence Sciences Sub-forum, part of the International Young Scientists (Scholars) Forum of East China Normal University, is now inviting outstanding young scholars in the field of geospatial artificial intelligence to Shanghai to explore opportunities for academic exchange and mutual development.

Established in June 2024, the School of Geospatial Artificial Intelligence at East China Normal University brings together a distinguished team of experts led by internationally renowned academicians. The school is dedicated to advancing the deep integration of spatiotemporal big data and artificial intelligence, with the aim of building a more sustainable future.

The school is recruiting outstanding talent from both China and abroad in research areas such as remote sensing science and technology, spatial artificial intelligence, computer science and technology, software engineering, geographic information systems, and surveying and mapping engineering. Scholars with backgrounds in disciplines such as artificial intelligence, mathematics, and statistics, who have a strong interest in remote sensing science are also welcome to apply.

 

Travel support

The sub-forum will be held both online and offline. For invited on-site participants, the university will provide accommodation and cover round-trip international economy-class airfare for travel within the officially designated period (up to 15 days). Reimbursement limits are set at 15,000 yuan ($2,060) per person for participants from Europe and North America, 6,000 yuan per person for those from the Asia-Pacific region, and 1,500 yuan per person for domestic travel by economy-class or second-class seats.

 

Positions

1. "Zijiang" Outstanding Young Scholar

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and have secured a formal teaching or research position at an overseas university, research institution, or corporate R&D center, with at least three years of continuous work experience. For those who earned their doctorate abroad and demonstrate exceptional academic performance, the work experience requirement may be appropriately relaxed.

Candidates should be capable of teaching core undergraduate courses, possess strong academic credentials, and demonstrate leadership, coordination skills, and significant potential for innovation and future development. They should also have the ability to advance their discipline toward world-class status.

Applicants should not be over 40 years old.

2. "Zijiang" Young Scholar

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and have at least one year of postdoctoral research experience. For those who obtained their doctorate overseas and have demonstrated exceptional academic performance, this requirement may be relaxed.

Candidates should have notable research or technological accomplishments recognized within their field and show strong potential to become academic leaders in the future.

Applicants should not be over 35 years old.

3. Associate professor (tenure-track)

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree.

Candidates should have a solid foundation in research, demonstrated academic achievements, strong potential for future development, and an innovative mindset.

Applicants should not be over 35 years old.

4. Postdoctoral researcher / full-time research fellow

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree.

Candidates should be in good physical and mental health, possess strong academic credentials, and demonstrate high research competence.

Applicants should not be over 35 years old.
