2025 SCIP+ Green Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest opens

The 2025 SCIP+ Green Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest is now open for applications.

By bringing together global innovation resources and top talent, the contest aims to promote the advancement of green chemistry and chemical engineering.

 

Main topics

Topic 1: Future materials

  • Low-carbon raw materials substitution in the chemical industry
  • Bio-manufacturing raw materials, bio-based materials, bio-degradable materials
  • High-performance carbon fibers and other special fiber materials toward low altitude economy and new energy, lightweight materials, special composite materials and raw materials for battery cells
  • Advanced semiconductors, superconducting materials and other frontier materials
  • High-purity reagents, new functional coatings, high-performance synthetic resins, high-end membrane materials, high-performance rubber materials, high-performance engineering plastics, 3D printing materials, circular materials, and other green materials
  • AI+ catalyst, AI+ R&D application scenarios

Topic 2: Future energy

  • Application of clean energies such as hydrogen energy, solar energy, wind energy, biomass energy, ocean energy

Eligibility

Participants are divided into the innovation group and entrepreneurship group.

Innovation group

Participants are undergraduates and postgraduates of universities and scientific research institutes, full-time undergraduate and postgraduate graduates, teachers at colleges and universities, and scientists and technicians at enterprises.

The applicant must be the project leader.

Entrepreneurship group

Participants are domestic and foreign teams from registered companies and start-ups. They should have basic products, technology or service prototypes, own intellectual property rights, and seek commercial scale.

The applicant must be the founder, legal representative, or technical director of the start-up.

 

Timeline

Launching and application: From June 18 to Sept 30

The contest will be promoted to interested parties and participants by multiple ways through organizers, co-organizers, partners etc.

Selection: From Oct 9 to Nov 30

Multiple rounds of online selection will be conducted by experts from industry, academia and capital. Participants for Finals will be selected.

Mentorship: Before the finals

The organization committee will invite experts to mentor finals participants.

Finals: December

Experts from industry, capital, university and scientific institute will select winners in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park.

Accelerated transformation stage (after the finals)

One week of in-depth incubation training on outstanding teams will be held, focusing on innovative thinking, client authentication, and product/service design. Help will be offered in constructing sustainable and scalable business models, impact assessment, roadshows, and investment matchmaking. Experts and mentors will be invited based on the fields of winning teams.

 

Prize

2. The winning projects will have the opportunity to benefit from Shanghai Chemical Industry Park's policies that supports the transformation of innovative achievements.

3. The winning projects will have the chance to receive financial aid from the "Eagle Plan" Foundation.

4. The winning projects will have the opportunity to be recommended by the Science and Technology Financial Centre of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Shanghai Branch to ICBC Investment and Co-investment Fund.

5. The organizing committee will arrange immersion business visits with representatives from leading global companies to accelerate the incubation of winning teams and facilitate investor matchmaking.

6. The winning projects will have the chance to communicate with industry experts regarding industrial docking, application landing, and market development.

7. Outstanding winning teams will have the opportunity to obtain free workstations at the Shanghai International Chemical & New Materials Innovation Centre in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park and enjoy corresponding support policies for R&D, small pilot, pilot testing, and other activities (as referenced in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Implementation Measures of Special Support for Facilitating High-quality Industrial Development).
