The Fudan University Hongqiao Medical Innovation Park is set to begin construction in Qianwan, located within the Hongqiao International Central Business District, with initial completion anticipated around 2030.

The park will be situated in the core zone of the Hongqiao International Open Hub's "One Core, Two Belts" layout. It spans five plots, bordered by Ruya Road to the north, Xuting Road to the east, Jizhaipu to the south, and the Xijie River to the west.

This innovation hub, integrating education, scientific research, industry, and services, aims to serve as a benchmark for world-class medical centers. It will collaborate with surrounding industries and medical resources to create a comprehensive pilot zone for education, technology, and talent in the medical field, as well as a consolidated biopharmaceutical industry ecosystem.

The park focuses on four core functions: independently cultivating top-tier medical talent, pioneering advancements in medical science and technology, attracting and clustering bio-pharmaceutical industries, and promoting open, high-level international medical services.

Beyond physical space expansion, the establishment of the Fudan University Hongqiao Medical Innovation Park represents a commitment to fostering Fudan's new medical sciences initiative and fostering interdisciplinary integration.

Fudan University is set to further optimize the overall layout of its medical talent cultivation: the Fenglin Campus will emphasize medical humanities education and clinical practice training, supporting undergraduate education and clinical postgraduate training, while the Hongqiao Park will position itself as a hub for medical technology innovation and academic postgraduate education.

Equipped with extensive research facilities, the park focuses on cutting-edge fields such as bio-pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, and biomedical engineering, aiming to build a full-chain ecosystem that seamlessly connects basic research, clinical translation, and industrial applications, driving innovation for both Fudan University and Shanghai.

The park will also integrate high-quality medical resources with leading institutions such as Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, a national center for neurological diseases, as well as leading pharmaceutical and medical device companies in South Hongqiao. Such collaboration will upgrade the capabilities of the New Hongqiao International Medical Center and contribute to the establishment of a world-class medical hub.

Riding on the university's strengths in multidisciplinary integration and medical sciences, the park will pioneer disciplines such as intelligent medicine and brain-computer interfaces and emerging tracks including medical genetics and precision diagnosis, cell and gene therapy, vaccines and biosecurity, xenotransplantation, healthy aging, and nuclear medicine.
