Putuo enterprises shine at 2025 'Startup in Shanghai' International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
Two companies from Shanghai's Putuo district have stood out at the 2025 "Startup in Shanghai" International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The competition featured 50 cutting-edge projects from a pool of 7,380 entries.
Shijiang Biotechnology and Hydwin Robotics distinguished themselves with their formidable innovations and technology, winning first and third prizes in the Growth Group, respectively.
This achievement not only acknowledges their technological leadership but also reflects Putuo district's success in fostering early-stage, small-scale, hard-tech innovation enterprises. The competition featured intense rivalry among teams from fields like biomedicine, artificial intelligence, and new materials, representing the forefront of new quality productive forces.
Shijiang Biotechnology, focusing on the life and health industry, is developing a groundbreaking drug targeting glioma stem cells, which is expected to enter clinical trials soon. The company's joint founder and CEO Ma Wenjiang highlighted the competition's role in attracting the attention of experts and investors, saying it is crucial for capital-intensive research.
Hydwin Robotics targets high-risk, high-pollution industrial scenarios with its Treatment Carrier robot series, which revolutionizes ship repair efficiency and supports green industry transformation. The company's founder and chairman Yang Wentao emphasized the strategic partnerships facilitated by Putuo's initiatives, which help the company's products to accelerate market access and maintain top in sales in the industry.
In recent years, Putuo district has used competitions and events as a way to identify and support promising teams, offering comprehensive service vouchers to reduce startup costs. This has led to over 54 million yuan ($7.6 million) of the companies' own funds being invested in innovation, research and development.
