Shanghai's Huangpu district welcomed the new year with a special concert at the Shanghai Grand Theatre on Jan 5, inviting professionals from various fields to enjoy the artistic charm.

Since 2018, Huangpu has held the New Year's concert for nine consecutive years at Shanghai cultural landmarks such as the Shanghai Concert Hall and the Shanghai Grand Theatre.

The year 2026 marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30). It is also a crucial year for Huangpu to seize opportunities, shape advantages, and achieve development to foster a first-class talent ecosystem with more precise policy support, broader career platforms, and better services.

The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra performed a program featuring classic symphonic and dance works, rich in festive atmosphere and spanning the European musical repertoire while blending Eastern and Western cultural influences.

Since the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Huangpu has strengthened its talent development environment, attracting over 180,000 professionals, directly recruiting and settling 4,264 experts, and cumulatively introducing 386 national and municipal-level high-level talents.

The district has established its characteristic brand, "Menmei Zhiguang", to attract talent and enhance its influence. Initiatives include constructing postdoctoral innovation practice bases, supporting entrepreneurship for overseas returnees, expanding the functions of science and technology innovation parks, and optimizing the youth innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Huangpu has also launched the Bund Service Center for International Professionals and established 10 major talent service projects. Moving forward, the district will continue to improve its comprehensive talent service system, further enhancing its appeal for talent from around the world.
