Baoshan talent community offers a first stop for job seekers
Baoshan district has established 32 youth hostels offering free temporary accommodation to eligible young people visiting the district for job interviews or internships.
The Nanda Strongberry Community, Baoshan's first municipal-level talent apartment project, is located at Lane 125, Qingzhuo Road, Dachang town, Baoshan district, at the heart of the Nanda Smart City.
The community enjoys an excellent location and convenient transportation. It is about 900 meters from Nanda Road Station on Metro Line 15, easily accessible on foot. To further optimize the commuting experience, the community operates dedicated shuttle buses during peak morning and evening hours, providing seamless connections to and from the metro station.
The area also includes mixed-use urban districts, waterfront spaces, and city parks. The community is one metro stop from a commercial complex on Fengxiang Road and two stops from Sam's Club. Within four metro stops, passengers can transfer to Line 11 and will be able to transfer to Line 20 once it is completed. The city's core commercial districts are within a 30-minute journey.
To the east of the community lie the 150,000-square-meter Nanda Digital Intelligence Oasis, the twin towers of the Nanda Digital Intelligence Center, and supporting spaces. To the south is the Baoshan Branch of the High School Affiliated to Shanghai Normal University. Nearby are Nanda Central Park, Renji Hospital Baoshan Branch, and Shanghai University's Baoshan Campus, with additional regional planning and infrastructure underway.
The community has a total floor area of 103,000 sq m, featuring over 2,500 units of government-subsidized rental housing and 551 parking spaces. It offers a variety of unit types, including studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and multi-person units ranging from 28 to 45 sq m.
Notably, units in the community were first made available in May 2025, and the project was included in the third batch supported by Shanghai's housing subsidy policy. Residents can use their housing provident fund to pay rent and utility fees, reducing living costs.
The apartments feature amenities such as air conditioning, refrigerators, washing machines, and Wi-Fi, making them "move-in ready." In addition, the community provides 24-hour dedicated concierge service and intelligent access-control security systems, ensuring round-the-clock safety. Public areas are regularly cleaned and maintained to ensure a comfortable living environment.
Beyond that, the community features over 2,000 sq m of vibrant shared spaces, including gyms, yoga rooms, movie and game areas, and shared kitchens, to enrich residents' daily life.
The community hosts regular social events, including summer barbecues, themed salons, and interest-based social events, helping residents connect with like-minded people and foster a sense of belonging.
It also features a dedicated city study, complete with multi-purpose event halls, private meeting rooms, reading areas, and shared study spaces. Outdoor basketball, tennis, and badminton courts, along with table tennis and billiards facilities, provide ample opportunities for exercise and relaxation. An exclusive outdoor lawn camping area offers an inviting setting for weekend picnics, camping, and casual gatherings.
The community's talent station provides dedicated talent services. By scanning the QR codes on the wall, the residents can access policy interpretations, event registration, business guidance, and other services.

4. After the materials are approved, the hostel will contact the applicant by phone.
Rental subsidy application guide
Eligible applicants can receive a monthly municipal rental subsidy of 2,000 yuan (about $295) for designated apartments. This can be combined with Baoshan's talent rental subsidy of up to 2,000 yuan per month, potentially reducing the rent to zero.
1. The "zero-, hundred-, and thousand-yuan" support system
To address the housing needs of talent at different levels, the district has introduced a three-tier support system.
- "Zero-yuan" stay:
To meet Baoshan's core development needs, eligible strategic professionals renting municipal-level talent apartments can receive combined municipal and district subsidies of up to 4,000 yuan per month, potentially covering the full rent.
- "Hundred-yuan" stay:
Key talent in urgent demand can receive district-level subsidies of up to 2,000 yuan per month, potentially reducing monthly rent to as little as a few hundred yuan.
- "Thousand-yuan" stay:
This initiative supports talented young people working or starting businesses in Baoshan. By offering multi-level subsidies, monthly rent can be maintained at approximately 1,000 yuan.
Application steps
1. Talent identification and information submission:
Applicants fill out a personal information form. Their employers compile and verify the materials, then submit them to the relevant local or industry authorities, which determine the final list of applicants.
2. Housing allocation:
Municipal authorities review and verify the applicant's eligibility. Eligible candidates will receive a talent service code and participate in the municipal talent rental subsidy allocation service. Successful applicants will be notified via text message.
3. Online housing selection:
Identified applicants browse available properties and submit rental requests through the "海聚英才通" app within the time limit. They can check real-time availability of remaining units and select specific rooms on a "first-come, first-served" basis. The talent apartment operator will arrange for applicants to complete the offline procedures within three to five working days. If the procedures are not completed on time, the unit will be returned to the talent housing information platform.
Application requirements
Applicants must be urgently needed professionals employed by municipal-level key entities and meet the following basic requirements:
1. Abide by the Constitution and laws and demonstrate good conduct.
2. Generally, applicants should work full-time in Shanghai and have signed an employment contract with a key entity. In principle, they should already be making social insurance contributions through that entity.
3. The applicant, their spouse and minor children must not own any housing in Shanghai. If both spouses meet the application conditions, only one of them may apply for the subsidy.
4. The applicant must engage in basic research, work in core positions in key areas or key industries aligned with national and municipal development needs, engage in innovative work in related fields, or work in other urgently needed positions identified by the competent industry authorities.
