Located in Baoshan district's Wisdom Bay Science and Technology Innovation Park, the China 3D-Printing Cultural Museum is the country's first museum dedicated to 3D printing culture.

Converted from a former textile mill warehouse, the building retains two massive concrete chutes once used by workers to transport fabric, preserving a tangible link to its industrial past.

With a floor area of about 5,000 square meters, the six-story museum features nine functional areas: a permanent exhibition hall, a thematic exhibition hall, a 3D printing materials library, a research center, a creative gallery, an interactive exhibition space, an image and video exhibition space, a rooftop garden, and a children's activity center.

The museum houses more than 3,000 exhibits, showcasing applications in fields such as healthcare, aerospace, cultural and creative industries, manufacturing, and fashion.

In the medical section, visitors can see life-sized human skeleton models and customized prosthetics based on real medical imaging data such as CT and MRI scans.

The fashion area displays a 3D-printed wedding dress, made from flexible TPU material and inspired by phoenix feathers.

The aerospace section showcases lightweight engine brackets and complex structural components, demonstrating the role of 3D printing in modern manufacturing.

Among the museum's highlights are two signature pieces. One is Pitch Black, a large-scale installation by Argentine-American architect Hernan Diaz Alonso — the first of its kind, created using 3D printing. The other is a 3D-printed chair inspired by Chinese ink-wash painting, featuring curved surfaces and gradient colors that produce an ink-wash effect.

The museum also caters to families. On the fourth floor, the children's activity center lets young visitors use 3D printing pens to draw in the air, transforming two-dimensional sketches into three-dimensional creations. Dedicated workshops guide children through the process, encouraging hands-on learning and creativity.
