Eighteen-year-old Chinese diver Chen Yuxi from Shanghai, along with her teammate, 17-year-old Quan Hongchan, clinched the women's synchronized 10-meter platform title at the Paris Olympics on July 31. 

This victory marks the first gold for Shanghai and the third gold for China's diving squad during the Olympics, keeping the diving "dream team" on track for a clean sweep of all eight golds in Paris. 

Team China has now won every single gold medal in this event — seven in a row — since its inclusion in the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

The world champion pair showcased their collective pursuit of perfection by flawlessly completing five rounds of dives, each with an optimal "rip entry" — a splash-less entry that has been mastered by China's elite divers.

"Everything is close to perfection," British diver Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix said of her Chinese rivals after the final. "They are the best of the best. I'm always clapping just watching their dives. They go in the water like they are sleeping".

Upon hearing the news of Chen's win, the Communist Party of China Shanghai Committee and the Shanghai municipal government jointly sent a congratulatory letter to the Chinese Olympic delegation.
