Shanghai shooter Wang Xinjie secured the bronze medal in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event at the Paris Olympic Games on Aug 5.
An Olympic debutant, Wang beat Germany's Florian Peter in a shoot-off to make the podium.
Li Yuehong clinched the gold in the event, marking China's inaugural Olympic gold in this category. Cho Yeong-jae of South Korea took the silver.
Wang's parents watched their son's performance. His father, Wang Baoci, said: "I was very excited watching the competition, feeling nervous with every shot. When I saw him enter the final, I was so excited that I couldn't sleep all night."
His mother, Shen Rong, said, "My son competed during the qualifying round with a low fever. Fortunately, he managed to pull through."
The father added: "I haven't seen him in over half a year, I miss him so much! When he returns, we will host a celebratory banquet for him."
