One Step Coffee
Tucked inside Yangshupu Power Plant Relics Park, One Step Coffee has been transformed from a former water treatment tank that once served the old industrial facility. Today, it offers a tranquil retreat where industrial heritage meets natural landscape.
The building retains the original structure of a circular sunken basin. Above it, a petal-shaped curved roof crowns the space, allowing natural light to stream in through the open dome.
Visitors will find concrete seating and an acrylic reading platform indoors. Outside, a shallow pool of water surrounds the building, merging the view with the nearby Huangpu River.
The cafe serves zero-carbon coffee and light meals. Its coffee beans are sourced with sustainability in mind, while all electricity used by the shop is generated through solar panels. The cafe also adopts eco-friendly packaging and provides biodegradable paper cups, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
The shop has a collection of books on environmental protection, local crafts, and historical photos. It also regularly hosts talks and salons on green topics, and works with local artists to present exhibitions, integrating art and nature in one space.
