Fuxing Park
Located near the bustling Huaihai Road commercial area in central Shanghai, Fuxing Park is one of the city's earliest public parks. It is also Shanghai's only garden preserved in the classical French style, representing a refined fusion of Eastern and Western landscape design.
The park opened in 1909 as Gujiazhai Park and was widely known as the French Park.
A comprehensive renovation completed in 2007 preserved and enhanced its historic character, further reinforcing the park's distinctive French garden atmosphere.
Attractions within the park include a rose garden, a lotus pond, a rockery, and a statue of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.
Among its green treasures are more than 1,700 plane trees aged over 50, as well as rare species such as European horse chestnut, vitex, and oriental white oak.
