Minhang Sports Park is a cornerstone of Shanghai's greenbelt and the largest multifunctional park in the city's southwest. Opened in 2004, it covers 84 hectares in total: 54.4 hectares of parkland in the north, 13.3 hectares of sports facilities at the center, and the 16.3-hectare Tropical Storm water park to the south.
What to see
- Symmetrical tree grids: Rows of camphor, southern magnolia, and metasequoia trees form a structured, green canopy throughout the park.
- Emerald Mountain: The park's highest point provides a tranquil overlook of the greenery below.
- Year-round lawn: A vast, carefully tended lawn of Bermudagrass and ryegrass stays vibrant throughout every season.
- Jinxiu Lake: The largest lake in the park features boating and cycling. At its center lie two islands — one kept wild for ecology, the other cultivated with over 10 varieties of fruit trees.
- Lakeside boardwalk: A 400-meter wooden walkway along the lake's west side is lined with more than 50 kinds of aquatic plant species, offering a serene, natural stroll.
