Tianshan Park, located at No 1731 West Yan'an Road in Changning district, was originally known as Fahua Park. It first opened in 1959 and has since undergone several renovations.

The park reopened in September 2026 following its latest upgrade.

Opening up to the street

With the park's boundary walls removed, the narrow roadside sidewalk, where pedestrians and vehicles once mixed, has been shifted into the park's green space and transformed into a 300-meter tree-lined walking path. Along the street edge, the park opens directly onto the sidewalk through lawns and tall plane trees, with the dense shrub layer cleared to give pedestrians unobstructed views into the greenery.

A refreshed landscape

The southern entrance now features an open lawn beside a small pond planted with aquatic grasses, creating a natural habitat for birds and insects. A curved bench along the lawn follows the terrain, inviting visitors to sit and unwind.

A newly installed viewing frame captures the lake in layers, offering visitors a thoughtfully composed view of the water. The park uses pink as its main color, which stands out against the dense green canopy, giving it a fresh, romantic feel.

Upgraded facilities

The old badminton courts in the southern section have been transformed into a 740-square-meter multipurpose sports area, featuring three standard pickleball courts, two ping-pong tables, and movable basketball hoops. Retractable netting allows the space to be reconfigured for different sports and activities.

The child-friendly play area now features a full set of 13 play structures, including swings, seesaws, interactive spinners, and merry-go-rounds. Soft paving covers the entire area to keep children safe.

Easier access

The park is now open 24/7, with an additional entrance on West Yan'an Road.

A designated bicycle parking area on the north side of the park facilitates easier access for cyclists.

The upgrade also includes a white arched pedestrian bridge linking Tianshan Park and Haisu Park and leading directly to the West Yan'an Road metro station.
