WAIC 2026: What visitors need to know
The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance will be held in Shanghai from July 17 to 20. If you plan to attend the conference or visit the exhibitions, review the following information before your trip to ensure a smooth arrival and entry.

Part 1: Download the Hi WAIC app before you arrive
All visitors are required to download the Hi WAIC app before arriving at the venue.
Open the app in advance and have your electronic admission QR code ready for verification. Screenshots and forwarded QR codes are not accepted.
QR code colors
- Gold QR code: Use the member lane
- Purple QR code: Use the general visitor lane
- Blue QR code: Use the general visitor lane at all venues except the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. At the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, use the forum attendee lane.
How to access your QR code
1. Open the Hi WAIC app.
2. Tap "Me".
3. Tap the QR code icon in the upper-right corner to display your QR code.
Expo Center, Zhangjiang Science Hall, and West Bund International Convention and Exhibition Center (West Bund ICEC)

- July 17: noon to 5 pm
- July 18 and 19: 8:30 am to 5 pm
- July 20: 8:30 am to 4 pm

Opening hours
- July 17: noon to 4 pm (Please note that the center will close early due to a major afternoon event. Visitors should exit through the South Gate.)
- July 18 to 19: 8:30 am to 5 pm
- July 20: 8:30 am to 4 pm

Exhibition visitor entrances

Entry to all four venues closes 30 minutes before the published closing time each day.
Entry involves two steps.
1. Open the Hi WAIC app and present your electronic admission pass for that day at the pre-screening point.
2. Enter using facial recognition. If facial recognition fails, proceed to the staff-assisted lane and present your passport for verification.
Part 4: Parking and traffic information
Temporary traffic restrictions
Temporary traffic restrictions will be in effect during the conference.
Vehicle access will be restricted within the area bounded by Bocheng Road, Zhoujiadu Road, Guozhan Road, and Shiboguan Road, including these roads, from 11 am to 7 pm on July 17 and from 7 am to 7 pm on July 18, 19, and 20.
During the restriction periods:
- Taxis and vehicles displaying official WAIC vehicle permits may enter as directed.
- Other motor vehicles are prohibited, except police vehicles on official duty, fire engines, ambulances, and emergency repair vehicles.
- Bicycles, e-bikes, and other non-motorized vehicles are also prohibited.
Details on when the traffic restrictions will be lifted on July 20 will be announced separately.
Expo Center and Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center
Recommended parking
- P4 Hongshan Road Parking Lot
- P5 World Flower Garden Parking Lot, with shuttle service to the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center
- P6 Yaojiang Road Parking Lot, with shuttle service to the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center
Parking fees are subject to the rates posted by each facility.
Taxi pick-up and drop-off point
- Zhoujiadu Road, on the east side of the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center

Vehicles may stop only briefly for immediate pick-up and drop-off.

Shuttle buses
Loop shuttle buses serve the Expo venue area and the following metro stations:
- Metro Line 7: Yaohua Road Station
- Metro Line 8: China Art Museum Station
- Metro Line 13: Shibo Avenue Station
- Metro lines 7 and 13: Changqing Road Station
Shuttle buses also connect the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, Zhangjiang Science Hall, and West Bund ICEC.
Passengers must show a conference badge or a valid pass for that day in the Hi WAIC app before boarding.

Note: Children aged 12 or younger may enter the exhibition areas only on July 20. Each child must purchase a single-day exhibition ticket for July 20 at the same price as an adult ticket and be accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket. They may not enter on July 17, 18, or 19.
Check the Hi WAIC app and SMS messages for updates on crowd levels, and visit during off-peak times when advised.
