FAQs on faster broadband installation for businesses in Shanghai

english.shanghai.gov.cn| July 07, 2026

Shanghai has introduced measures to make telecommunications charges and services more transparent and improve the broadband installation services for businesses. The following FAQs explain the key changes, service access, and application process.

1. What changes have been introduced?

A: The time required for business broadband application and installation has been reduced from three days to one working day.

Illustrated guides and video demonstrations have been added to make service application, payment, and invoicing procedures easier to understand.

2. How can businesses access the service?

A: Business users can access the online services of the Shanghai branches of China Telecom, China Mobile, or China Unicom and navigate to the sections labeled "营商环境专区" (business environment section) or "政企服务专区" (section for business and institutional services).

Within these sections, users can view standard charges, service commitments, and installation progress, submit service requests or orders online, make payments, and download electronic invoices.

After a request is submitted, operators assign staff to follow up, and the entire process, from application acceptance to installation, is transparent and trackable in real time.

Where network resources are available and premises are ready for installation, telecommunications operators can complete broadband activation within one working day of application acceptance.
