Changning showcases entrepreneurial spirit to talents

A special event was held in Shanghai's Changning district on July 22 to attract Chinese students studying overseas and bolster efforts to welcome exceptional individuals.

The event welcomed 29 master's and doctoral students from prestigious European and US universities, including the University of Oxford, Harvard University, Stanford University, the University of Cambridge, the University of Birmingham, and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, to explore Changning.

Through a variety of activities such as district introductions, policy briefings, project showcases, and site visits, these students learned about Changning developing landscape, experiencing the district's innovative entrepreneurial spirit.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting students, Ding Shenghuan, from the University of Oxford, affirmed Shanghai's status as the top destination for overseas returnees.

Hu Yuhua, a visiting scholar from the University of Oxford, and Liu Zongtao, postdoctoral researcher at Oxford, presented projects in AI and photovoltaics to industry experts and students at the event.

Stakeholders from prominent enterprises, investment firms, financial institutions, and human resources agencies then gave valuable feedback to the project presenters, and engaged in in-depth discussions with the students during the networking sessions.

Furthermore, the students visited the Shanghai Hongqiao One-Stop Service Center for Overseas Talents, Hongqiao Linkong Business Park, and key sites in the Shanghai Silicon Alley innovation hub.

They also learned about the innovative spirit of Changning's digital economy and biopharmaceutical sector by touring local companies.

Changning has been working on strengthening Shanghai's role as a talent hub by implementing a variety of recruitment and support policies.

The district has also launched the Shanghai Hongqiao One-stop Service Center for Overseas Talents as part of its efforts to improve its business environment.
