Expats from countries including the United States, Poland, and Thailand participated in a Chinese language training course in Changning district on Oct 11. The course allowed the expats to immerse themselves in a range of Chinese cultural elements, from culinary arts to calligraphy.

During the culinary session, participants delved into the intricacies of eight major Chinese cuisines, namely Shandong (鲁 lǔ), Sichuan (川 chuān), Jiangsu (苏 sū), Guangdong (粤 yuè), Fujian (闽 mǐn), Zhejiang (浙 zhè), Hunan (湘 xiāng), and Anhui (徽 huī).

They not only learned about the unique characteristics and signature dishes of each cuisine but also familiarized themselves with common dish names in restaurants and practiced ordering food.

In the calligraphy class, attendees honed their skills by mastering the art of holding a brush, writing Chinese characters, and appreciating the aesthetic and cultural depth of calligraphy.
