A delegation led by John Sheehan, a member of the Cork City Council in Ireland, recently visited two residential communities in Shanghai's Changning district, to observe local smart community governance.

The delegation first visited a comprehensive community service center, where they experienced an intelligent pharmacy, the Government Online-Offline Shanghai service machine, digital sports facilities, and smart study rooms.

They learned about the operation of the community health service station and participated in activities such as community handicraft classes and ethnic dance rehearsals.

At a health care service center, the delegation learned about the daytime care services, observed art courses and student works, participated in the health care courses for elderly residents, and interacted with residents making cookies in the bakery.

The delegation members expressed their appreciation for this unique opportunity. John Sheehan said that prior to their visit, his colleagues had seen the "AI+ community" exhibition of a local community at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference and were intrigued.

He also noted that the visit was informative, learning how local communities have enhanced residents' lives through digital empowerment in grassroots governance. These experiences offer valuable insights for community development in Cork City, and he looks forward to future cooperation and exchanges between the two regions.
