Chinese fair brings New Year cheer to Changning
A Guochao-themed New Year's fair recently brought festive joy to the Hongqiao Talent Apartment in Shanghai's Changning district.
Guochao, also known as Chinese trends or "China chic", reflects the rise of China's native fashion trends.
The fair featured an array of engaging stalls. Game areas tested participants' reflexes with fast-paced challenges and their precision with tossing games.
Visitors also enjoyed trying on traditional hanfu attire, transforming into elegant ancient scholars and ladies, complete with intricate hair accessories.
Meanwhile, the nail art stalls attracted long queues as residents selected dazzling New Year designs while chatting with skilled technicians.
In the DIY section, creativity thrived as residents crafted colorful twist-stick ornaments shaped like persimmons — symbolizing good fortune — and practiced calligraphy to create bold and elegant "Fu" characters welcoming prosperity.
Adding to the fun, a stamp-collecting activity offered participants a chance to win prizes, further boosting the festive spirit.
With over 2,000 leases signed, the Hongqiao Talent Apartment has become a hub for young professionals. Chen Xuhui, a local youth committee leader, expressed the hope that events like this would strengthen community bonds and bring warmth to the growing neighborhood.
