Changning sees surge in Spring Festival shopping

During the Spring Festival holiday from Jan 28 to Feb 4, four commercial areas in Shanghai's Changning district witnessed a substantial increase in consumer spending, totaling 350 million yuan ($48.03 million), a 36.7 percent rise from the previous year.
In Zhongshan Park commercial area, consumer spending reached 153 million yuan, marking an 11.6 percent year-on-year increase, with daily foot traffic of 103,800 people, up by 1.45 percent compared to the previous year.
Linkong commercial area witnessed a remarkable 351.84 percent surge in consumer spending, totaling 126 million yuan, largely due to Livat Shanghai's first Spring Festival season since its opening in September.
Changning district also attracted external consumption through offerings such as tour packages, discounted hotel accommodations, and cultural events. For example, Shanghai Zoo drew over 110,000 visitors with Year-of-the-Snake-themed activities.

Furthermore, exhibitions and collaborations with popular franchises created new consumption opportunities. The beloved character Snake Spot on Yuyuan Road made a surprise appearance, adopting various looks.
