New contemporary ballet explores life's journey

Tickets are now on sale for Wall, a contemporary ballet produced by the Shanghai International Dance Center.
Directed by renowned young choreographer Ao Dingwen, Wall breaks the traditional structure of ballet, incorporating deep reflections on the journey of life.
Through intricate art of pointe work, dancers depict an emotional journey across the changing seasons, symbolizing the "walls" within one's heart.
Using "walls" as a metaphor for different life stages, the performance unfolds in four chapters — Enclosed, Broken, Undulating, and Boundless — mirroring the cyclical nature of life.

The first chapter, like spring, portrays individuals building protective walls around themselves.
In the second, mirroring summer's passion, the protagonist exerts all effort to break these barriers.
The third chapter, akin to autumn, brings a quiet yet comforting reconstruction.
In the final winter scene, as snow buries the walls, dancers break free, expressing their individuality in a limitless white landscape.
