As part of the week-long "Invest in Shanghai" series, the Low-Altitude Economy Industry Closed-Door Meeting, held in Shanghai's Changning district on March 26, highlighted the city's drive to pioneer this fast-growing sector.

With 2024 already being hailed as the first year of China's low-altitude economy, Changning is seizing the opportunity to accelerate from traditional general aviation to cutting-edge low-altitude aviation. The newly established Hongqiao International Low-Altitude Economic Industrial Park has been unveiled, attracting key industry players such as the Ninth Academy of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and Shanghai Low-Altitude Economy Industry Development Co Ltd.

At the meeting, Changning officials outlined a plan to advance investment, innovation, and ecosystem development in the sector.

First, leveraging the global connectivity of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, Changning aims to deepen its aviation service advantages and contribute to Shanghai's vision of becoming a sky city.

Second, the district plans to develop a thriving industry cluster by integrating low-altitude airspace management, airworthiness certification, and flight services, fostering the expansion of aviation from high-altitude to low-altitude applications.

Third, a new collaborative mechanism will be implemented, combining policy innovation and resource sharing to enhance the low-altitude economy's industrial ecosystem.

The event also featured investment briefings and policy discussions. Representatives of Shanghai Low-Altitude Economy Industry Development, CITIC Offshore Helicopter Co Ltd, Shanghai branch of China CITIC Bank, and other leading investment firms took part in one-on-one exchanges, further driving momentum in the sector.
